49 Personal Branding Questions to Ask Yourself

  1. What makes you indispensable? My ability to bring something new to the things that I write about
  2. What ways do you provide value? I write lots and it is good quality, you get a lot of bang for your buck ideas-wise.
  3. How are you differentiated? I have a personal vision to communicate and entertain that will tilt the world for you.
  4. Do you lead or follow the crowd? You have to be able to step out front where you need to, and I do that.
  5. What does status quo mean to you? It means something that needs to be reacted against – a static idea that doesn’t evolve.
  6. Why are you the best? Because I am prolific and passionate and dedicated to what I do.
  7. Why should anybody listen to you? Because I have interesting things to say sometimes.
  8. Do you like to try new things? Of course, who doesn’t?
  9. When was the last time you read a book? This morning.
  10. How do you communicate your value? I live my values and try to lead by example.
  11. What are the trends shaping the new economy? Too much panic merchant bullshit floating around.
  12. How can you position yourself for these trends? By looking at the long term and not getting hung up in the bullshit of the media now.
  13. What do you find when you Google yourself (ego search)? My websites; my writing.
  14. What are your goals? Stretch goals? To communicate about life – what it is to be human, in all its glory.
  15. What is your written plan to reach them? I have my various books prioritised and moving towards completion.
  16. Have you taken action yet? I am always taking action – nothing happens if you do nothing.
  17. What kind of company do you work for? Visionary or Dinosaur? I work for myself, so visionary.
  18. Do you Google, Bing, or Yahoo? Google.
  19. How many substantive virtual connections do you have? Lots.
  20. Are you networking with influencers? Of course – I hob-nob with the creme de la creme.
  21. Do you follow at least 20 blogs in your field? Why limit myself?
  22. Are you commenting on blogs a few times a week? Yessir.
  23. When was the last time you wrote something someone disagreed with? God knows – probably just now.
  24. What are the big ideas in your head? Do you have any? I have lots and I am busy putting them on the page. What are they? Read the poetry, the prose, the non fiction.
  25. Do you have a fire in your belly? Yeah, it’s exploding out the top of my skull.
  26. If not, how can you light a fire in your belly? See above.
  27. Do you enjoy your job? Yes.
  28. Are you going through the motions? What’s the point in that?
  29. Can you name 5 social networks and how they work? I could and can, but feel no need to – go find me there.
  30. What new things are you learning? Communication and how to work in the world.
  31. Do you think? I would be a pretty poor writer if I didn’t.
  32. What is your personal brand? I am the musehick, the insomnihack, skull cull, the church of the floating head, headspace unique
  33. Are you monitoring the Web with alerts? yes
  34. How are you promoting your personal brand? with lots of product; lots of output; lots of outflow

  36. Where do you want to be 1, 5, 10 ,etc years from today? At the top of my game.
  37. When was the last time you failed? Why think about negative things which have passed?
  38. When was the last time you tried something new? Yesterday.
  39. When you don’t know the answer to something do you Google it? Usually.
  40. Do you believe in creating your circumstances? Yeah, my postulates are strong.
  41. What successful people do you admire and model? Warren Ellis, Malcolm McClaren, David Bowie
  42. What do you bring to the world that is truly yours? My creative self and my creations
  43. Do you rank first for your name in Google? Yes
  44. Do you have a blog? Many
  45. Can you create a blog? Yeah
  46. Can you write an eBook on something you are knowledgeable about? Have done so
  47. Have you asked to be a guest author on a prominent blog? Not exactly
  48. Have you been told no in the last month? If not you are not taking enough chances. Yeah, no comes at you a lot in this life – have to work to turn it into a yes.
  49. How long until you take action? Time is an illusion. I am always taking action.
